Live in Oak Park-Northwood
Mid-century streets inside Loop 410 below the airport where the school district changes partway across: 6,409 residents are in Alamo Heights ISD, whose high school the state rated A for 2026, and 5,172 in North East ISD, whose zoned high school it rated C.
Oak Park-Northwood filled in after the Second World War, when Alamo Heights ISD nearly doubled and built Woodridge Elementary, now inside the line, in 1951-52; a resident writing in 2020 called it one of the city's best collections of midcentury modern homes. This guide takes the area the Oak Park Northwood association files with the City: about 1,756 acres inside Loop 410 between Broadway and Harry Wurzbach Road, where the 2020 census counted 11,581 residents, 7.4% more than on the same ground in 2010, and owners lived in 66% of the occupied homes. San Antonio International Airport is across the Loop to the north, Robber Baron Cave, a 1920s tourist attraction and now a preserve, lies under its streets, and most of it drains east to Salado Creek. Zillow put the typical home in ZIP code 78209, which holds all of its residents and is almost four times their number, at $470,255 in August 2026.
Postwar streets by the airport, split by a school district line
The area the Oak Park Northwood neighborhood association files on the City of San Antonio's Neighborhood Associations layer (OBJECTID 306), which the City publishes without saying it checks the lines: about 1,756 acres. Northeast Loop 410 on the north, from Broadway east to Harry Wurzbach Road; Harry Wurzbach Road on the east, south to Austin Highway (Loop 368); Austin Highway and North Vandiver Road in the southeast corner; Eisenhauer Road on the south, west to North New Braunfels Avenue, then Claywell Drive to Broadway; and Broadway on the west, with a pocket west of it between Nottingham Drive and Terra Alta Road. All of it is inside the City of San Antonio and Bexar County and in ZIP code 78209. The line between Alamo Heights ISD and North East ISD runs north to south through it, near Kenilworth Boulevard.

The 2020 census counted 11,581 residents, 7.4% more than on the same ground in 2010, and owners lived in 66% of the occupied homes. Under its streets is Robber Baron Cave, a 1920s tourist attraction that the Texas Cave Management Association has kept as a preserve since 1995, home to a spider found in only two caves and listed as endangered in 2000.
The school district changes partway across the neighborhood. The Census Bureau's lines put 6,409 residents, the western part including the reference point, in Alamo Heights ISD, and 5,172, east of a line near Kenilworth Boulevard, in North East ISD. Alamo Heights has one junior school and one high school, rated A, 91, for 2026, and it is the district whose $570,109 of property wealth a student the Texas Supreme Court set against Edgewood's $38,854 when it struck down the state's school funding in 1989. North East ISD zones its part to Northwood Elementary, Garner Middle and MacArthur High, rated C, 75.
The tax bill barely notices the line. No price index follows the association's area. Zillow's figure for ZIP code 78209, which holds every resident and almost four times their number, was $470,255 in August 2026, up 0.7% on the year, against a Bexar County median sale of $280,999. On the 2025 rates a homestead at that value pays about $8,142 a year in Alamo Heights ISD and $8,225 in North East ISD; without a homestead, $10,545 and $10,663. The city's Northside ISD example is on the San Antonio page.
The flood map is small here, and the watershed is not. FEMA's map puts 2.5% of the area in the 1% annual chance zone, on blocks holding 94 residents, and the City lists two low-water crossings inside the line, on Cave Lane and on Oak Glen at Haskin. About 80% of the area drains east to Salado Creek, most of it in the unit the Geological Survey calls Beitel Creek-Salado Creek, and on 12 June 2025 twelve people died in the Beitel Creek basin, eleven of them when 15 vehicles were swept off the Loop 410 frontage road at Perrin Beitel Road, about 5 km east. Nationally 29% of flood insurance claims from 2014 to 2024 came from outside FEMA's high-risk areas.
The airport is the neighbor. Its noise program insulates eligible homes inside its 65-decibel day-night contour; this guide could not place that contour against the association's line. No City historic or conservation district covers the area. No VIA Frequent stop is inside it: the nearest is 4.2 km away, and the 10 Naco / Broadway Skip runs down Nacogdoches Road.

Three small City parks, and a cave you can visit only on tour days
The City keeps three small parks inside the line: Price Memorial Park, about 6.6 acres, Northridge Park, about 4.6, and Haskin Park, about one, where residents got a Google fiber hut removed after 2017. The Robber Baron Cave Preserve is inside the line too, but closed to regular visits; its owners open it for special tours about every 18 months.

What the map does not show: how little public open space there is. The three parks add up to about 12 acres of the area's 1,756.
