Understand Hypoluxo before you commit to an address
Hypoluxo is a town of about three thousand people on the mainland side of the Intracoastal opposite Manalapan, wedged between Lantana and Boynton Beach, mostly modest single-family houses and a few condominium developments, with a typical home value of about $299,000 that is the second-lowest in this layer. Figures are the same two indexes measured the same way in all 24 municipalities on this coast, on Florida's rules including the homestead exemption.
The cost of living in Hypoluxo, and what a home costs
Two calculators on Florida's own rules: monthly compounding and the month private mortgage insurance stops, and the closing costs this state actually charges.
Rent or buy in Hypoluxo
Whether buying here beats renting, and the year it turns over. On this coast insurance moves the answer more than the mortgage rate, and you can edit it.

Monthly compounding, the 30-year fixed loan, the private mortgage insurance a low down payment triggers, and Florida's documentary stamp and intangible taxes on the loan itself.

Identical rules and exemptions, the same two Zillow indexes, and insurance at less than half what it costs here. It is the clearest measure of what proximity to the Atlantic costs.
Compare coast and inlandWhat buying in Hypoluxo actually involves
Hypoluxo's own rate of 3.2000 mills is low, the county library district adds 0.5491, and the total lands at 16.0071: a homesteaded buyer's rate of about 1.39%, the lowest effective rate of these twenty-four. Because the houses are inexpensive the bill is about $4,100 a year, the lowest bill as well. The town is outside the Fire/Rescue MSTU and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue's own areas-served page lists it as a municipality the county neither serves nor dispatches for, so that district's 3.4581 mills is not on this bill and what the service does cost sits inside the municipal rate instead. Being lowest on both measures at once is unusual here: Lake Worth Beach charges the highest total millage of the twenty-four and has only the fifteenth-largest bill, and Manalapan has the second-lowest millage and the second-largest bill. A rate table alone tells you very little.
The typical home value here fell about eight percent over the year to June 2026, the steepest drop in this layer, which reflects both the softening in Palm Beach County's condominium market and how thin a market this size is. Being on the mainland rather than the island puts the insurance in a different band from the barrier-island towns a few hundred meters east, though it is still a coastal Palm Beach County premium.
The town is small, mainland and mostly residential, sitting between Lantana and Boynton on the Intracoastal, and a large share of its housing is in condominium and manufactured-home communities rather than detached houses. Those two carry quite different financing, insurance and fee structures, and the town index blends them.
Being on the mainland side of the Intracoastal rather than the island is worth real money on insurance here, and it is the main structural difference between this town and the barrier-island municipalities a few hundred meters east. What it does not remove is flood exposure along the waterfront, which is mapped and specific.
Moving to Hypoluxo: check these before you commit
- The flood zone, since the town sits low and directly on the Intracoastal.
- For a condominium: reserves and assessments under Florida's 2022 legislation, which has hit older small buildings hardest.
- How thin the local market is, given the size of the year-over-year move in the index.
- Whether the property is in a manufactured-home community and whether the land is owned or leased.
- The association's fee and assessment history, since much of the town's stock is older condominium.
Hypoluxo levies 3.2000 of the 16.0071 mills charged here. The remaining 12.8071 is Palm Beach County, the school district and the countywide special districts, none of which the municipality sets, and none of it is the county Fire/Rescue MSTU, because Hypoluxo is outside it.

Every Hypoluxo figure below is cited, stamped with the period it describes, and editable, because a number for the whole city rarely describes your purchase.
